Whether indoor or outdoor, the air that we breathe has a continual impact on our health. Given the large percentage of time that people spend within buildings, the indoor environment is a very significant environmental exposure for the entire population. Much attention has traditionally focused on the occupational environment, but exposures to environmental agents within the home, schools, colleges and recreational buildings may also determine human health outcomes.

  Visual disorders

  Memory impairment

  Loss of coordination

  Nausea and vomiting

  Allergic skin reactions

  Damage to liver, kidney and Central Nervous System (i.e. brain and spinal cord)

Indoor Air Pollution

Respiratory and allergic effects in infants have also been associated with VOC's.

Long-term exposure to VOC's in an indoor environment can cause what is termed as ' Sick Building Syndrome (SBS)'. SBS can be attributed to flaws in the heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. Other causes include the out-gassing (i.e. release or give off as gas or vapour) of VOC’s by building materials and moulds.
